Slumdog Wins the Oscar!

I know that I already posted about this movie here, but I can't resist posting again.
I'm so happy it won. It is a truly wonderful story and film.

In the words of Washington Post reviewer Ann Hornaday:

...like all good fairy tales, this outsize celebration of perseverance and moral triumph contains within it a deeper idea -- in this case, the relative nature of what we think we know, and what's worth knowing at all. No doubt Dickens himself would approve.

We saw it this weekend and really liked it. Except for that whole baliwood dance scene at the end ;). But it provided for a good laugh before we went home.

you really didn't like that part?! i loved it. it was a nice little happy surprise at the end. but i grew up watching musicals and tend to enjoy them. ++ kirk told me something funny last night. after watching the oscars on sunday, he dreamed that he got an oscar for slumdog millionaire, too. he can't remember exactly what it was for - just that it was for doing "some ridiculously unimportant job" related to the movie, and that he went up on stage and gave an acceptance speech.
