Hello Monday!

Today I actually feel glad that it's Monday, because I've got a fresh new week before me and so many things that I want to do!

One goal I set for myself this weekend was to post more regularly to my flickr account. (Not familiar with flickr? Click here to find out more.) I usually end up posting about once every 4-6 weeks, and it becomes a horrible task that I dread. So now my goal is to update at least once a week, in small bite-sized chunks.

I've also decided that flickr will become my personal blog of sorts. Maybe you've noticed that I've been posting less and less personal content here. I still want this to be a familiar, friendly sort of blog rather than an uber-professional one...but I'll save the family group photos, boring personal details, and naked pics (kidding! just wanted to see if you were still reading) for my flickr. But you'll only be able to see that stuff if you are my good friend or family on flickr, so if you actually are one of those, please join flickr and add me as your friend/family. It's free and easy. All you need is a yahoo account. (My flickr name is sycamore street.)

Also, it seems like everyone is on facebook and twitter these days. I've seen on our Google analytics that we get a fair amount of hits to our shop from these sites. Plus, I have some friends who have been bugging me to join up, and I'm crumbling under the pressure.

Do you use these? Have they been fun/helpful? If you have a creative type of business like mine, do you have separate business and personal accounts?

i weiney-ed out and got on facebook after avoiding it for so long. i got addicted for a little while, and now i am now at a more "normal" pace. i have found a lot of really old contacts this way, so this might be a great way for you to connect thru some old friends and make some new networks. i think you should join so i can show you some awesome pics of you from our chatsworth/katy days.

i don't twitter, but that's because i'm pretty boring and don't really know that anyone cares that much about what i am doing every hour or minute. plus, my phone is beat up from baby saliva. it seems to me that twitter folk are those who are much more "connected" into the high-tech gadgetry and linkup sites.

I'm on facebook personally (as in I don't have a dahlhaus facebook acct) and it is nice to connect every few days to friends and people I don't see regularly. I can't see myself ever being a twitterer- I don't have the time of day for that. But I know what you mean about the google stats- I get curious about what is being said that sends people to my etsy shop or blog... not sure how you find that out though.
btw, love the bangs- the pic of the cabbage patch was lol cute. I really loved those dolls when I was little...

i didn't want to join facebook for so long and when craig joined and was connecting with all of our friends, I buckled. that was about a year ago and I really have loved being on it. It's a great way to keep in touch. I like that it's personal and not anything to do with business (my blog is that way too) but I do need to start doing a work/professional blog. I love yours; it's great!

hmmm...i'm leaning towards getting a facebook and twitter for sycamore, and then a separate facebook account. but am i crazy?! is that gonna be a huge waste of my time?

you are crazy! but that's just me :) and i still don't have a cell phone so i think it might be more that people think i'm crazy.
but that's why i love flickr. it's a little bit of everything.

and i'm looking forward to more of your lovely photos.

pete's friend from his mission is a huge twitter guy, and i think he got on it before it blew up. he has a few businesses that he owns and operates himself, and twitter has helped him. but...a lot of his business is based around marketing and whatnot. i guess yours really would be too. i wonder if you could try it out and see if you get many followers and then just cancel if it doesn't seem to provide you the business you need. if it's free, i guess it can't really hurt right?
