I know that many artists/designers (including myself) often ask themselves a question that goes something like this: "Although I love what I do, sometimes I feel like I should quit and become a nurse, aid worker, cancer researcher, etc... so that I can make more of a difference in the world..." I've even addressed the issue here on my blog.Well, we may never make the kind of difference that people in those kinds of altruistic professions do, but we can still make a difference in our own way. It's been amazing to see the efforts of the online design community to help Haiti in recent weeks. (Craft Hope, for example...)
Now we have another chance with The Haiti Poster Project. Here's how their website explains it:
THE HAITI POSTER PROJECT seeks limited edition sets of posters from artists, designers and design firms from around the world. The donated posters will be sold online to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. As designers, we have the collective ability to do what we love, AND to create a difference. In order for this project to be successful, we are counting on designer participation. Our goal is to raise at least $1 million dollars for Doctors Without Borders.
Please get involved and help spread the word. Thanks!

I'm an artist turned advocacy anthropologist, and I'd like to say that art makes a HUGE difference. Please stick with it and don't become nurses, one and all. Be what you are; the world needs you.
Jacqui - Thanks for the words of encouragement!
