Five Christmas Favorites //// lyndsey | paper girl

hello sycamore street press fans! i'm lyndsey and i blog over at the stationery place, where i share my favorite paper products. i had my first baby earlier this year as well, and it's been fun comparing pregnancy drama with eva -- i was so excited to be able to guest post while she's on maternity leave. i'm a fellow utahn who hates snow, loves modern family and obsesses over a good dessert. and, i'm a sucker for pretty stationery...so of course i love sycamore street press!

since today is december 1, i thought i'd share some of my very favorite things about christmas -- most of which involve paper [can you blame me?!] -- to help us all get into the holiday spirit. take a look:

1. clever holiday gift wrap. the letterpress gift tags [above] by smock are so classy -- way better than the squares of wrapping paper my family used to tape to presents as gift tags. smock also has gorgeous wrapping paper to take your packages to the next level, or there's always the mass-produced exquisite wrapping papers [glitter! candy canes!] from my favorite store, paper source.

2. christmas movies. i can't make it through december without watching national lampoon's christmas vacation, home alone, or one magic christmas. classic. ("i'm making ornaments out of your fish hooks." "my new fish hooks?" "i can't use the old ones...they've all got worm guts stuck on 'em.")

3. christmas cards! love em or hate em, these babies are a quintessential part of christmas at my house. i get so excited by the influx of snail mail, reading messages from long lost friends, checking out the family photos...it's the best. pictured above is a pretty card from egg press, and my all-time favorite SSP christmas card is at the top of this post. and now companies like hello!lucky have made the art of the christmas letter even better with fill-in-the-blank top 10 lists and vintage newsletters -- adding a bit more style to your holiday letters.

4. holiday treats! mmm. i love me a good dessert. pictured above are some of my favorite seasonal cookies, peppermint joe-joes from trader joe's. if you live in a state with a trader joe's [sadly, there are none in utah], do yourself a favor and go pick up a box!

5. i guess we'll add in the beauty of winter. as mentioned, i really hate snow -- i grew up in california where we didn't exactly have what you'd call "weather" -- but even i can admit that the utah mountains are breathtaking all covered in white. it really makes it feel like christmas.

happy holidays to you & yours! feel free to come visit the stationery place for plenty more holiday stationery, cards and lovely paper.

I think I lament every day that we don't have a Trader Joe's here!

I am with you on the christmas movies-my favorite is the Muppets Christmas Carol. Too good!

I think my biggest Christmas favorite is making special gifts for everyone! Christmas isn't about commercialism and money, but making things from the heart...that and lots of cookies!

Great post Lyndsey, my friend! What a lovely surprise to see you on here today! I hope this Utah winter is kind to your CA blood! As a transplant myself, I have to agree with you that it is indeed beautiful here!
