sound + vision ///// Scrap & Spunk Mix

The songs on this mix are the kind that make you jump up and down in a stifling basement on a Midwestern summer's night. I really wanted to put Jawbreaker's Kiss the Bottle on there, too, but for some reason 8 tracks wouldn't let me upload it.

///// Scrap & Spunk //////

1. Honky Tonk Women ///// Ike & Tina Turner
2. Big Dipper ///// Built to Spill
3. Holland, 1945 ///// Neutral Milk Hotel
4. Ever Fallen In Love? ///// The Buzzcocks
5. Sheena Is A Punk Rocker [Original ABC Single Version] ///// The Ramones
6. Love And Hate ///// The Crabs
7. Future Nun ///// The Boy Who Could Fly
8. Living Life ///// Daniel Johnston
9. Ten Things ///// Paul Baribeau
10. Tally Ho ///// The Clean
11. Is This Love? ////// Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Listen to it here.

p.s. I just realized that my friends Claire and Amanda introduced me to over half of the bands on this mix. Thanks gals.

Antwerp! Wow. It's been so long. Remember how I missed my train and you guys graciously offered to let me stay in your room? Otherwise I don't know what I would have done. Probably slept on a bench at the train station.

eva, i'm so music-inept these days. i think i find a new band every 6 months now. kind of sad. i also will hear about shows, but i don't have the energy or motivation i used to have to do the following:

drive farther than down the road to see a show, stand for more than 30 minutes, wait past 9 pm for a band to play, or be in the front row

i'm soooooo old. perhaps cranky.

Amanda - I know how you feel. I hardly ever go to shows anymore...especially now with a baby. If I did go to a show, I'd prefer it's be one where I could sit the whole time. And I go in spurts of being pro-active about listening to new bands. We ARE old. If we went to all the kind of shows we used to go to, kids would look at us and think "who are those old people?". Unless we were cool & talented enough to be in the band, then they'd let it slide.

antwerp! so happy you missed your train.

also, we are still totally cool, even if we prefer seating :)

Claire - I'm glad. And you are definitely cool. Don't know about me.;) And wow, time has gone by quickly... you must be heading back to Australia pretty soon, right?
