On the Road ///// Chicago Tips?

My little brother is getting married in Chicago this weekend, so we're taking a quick trip to the windy city. I think we'll have a little bit of time for exploring and I'd love to hear your tips!

p.s. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of my favorite movies. Wouldn't it be great to spend a day doing everything he did?

when aaron and i were brainstorming our getaway i brought up chicago and he was like - why would i want to go there? and i thought, besides museums, it's ferris' city!

bonus points if you go to a museum and pose like that with ingrid.

Oh my!! Please spend a day doing everything he did. I rented that movie 34 times as a kid. And yes, I was also the kid that counted how many times I rented it.
Also, there is a great river tour that you can take. I haven't done it, but even locals have said it's great.
There are some great record store as well in Chicago, if you are feeling like some new music.
Have fun!!

Definitely spend the money and take the architectural boat tour, it's the best way to see all the amazing buildings and get an interesting history lesson, and for kids - boat ride!

My favorite things from Chicago were the architectural boat tour and visiting Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House. Have a fun trip!

ohhhh my. okay, here goes:

coffee: intelligentsia (millenium park/lakeview).

food/drinks: rub bbq (rogers park---byob), longman & eagle (logan square---amazing food, known for their massive whiskey bar. they are ALL about specialty things!), piece brewery & pizzeria (wicker park), union pizza (evanston), pastoral (millenium park/lakeview---wine & cheese shop with amazing sandwiches!!), haymarket (west loop---this one's more of a sophisticated sports bar but the food & beer are awesome).

dessert: lickity split (andersonville---great neighborhoody custard place), more cupcakes (river north/gold coast---crazy gourmet cupcakes).

i think that's all i've got for now. these are my favorites in the city! enjoy your time here/the wedding!

hands down the best cupcake shop in the city is Molly's. I won't buy one anywhere else. Even if you are here for a short trip- its worth the stop!

We love the Frank Lloyd home + studio tour (in Oak Park) and also really enjoy the river architectural tour. Brunch (and a cocktail!) at The Bristol is amazing.

Thanks everyone for the tips! It was such a short trip and we were with extended family & doing wedding stuff, so we didn't get to do a ton of extra things... but we did a couple and I'll post about them soon.

Roxy, we'll be in Orem all weekend at my in-law's! Kirk's brother and his family are in town from California. I'll probably be at Nathaniel's reception Saturday night, though. (Do you know him?) We have bad luck with meeting up!
