YOU ARE WHERE YOU LIVE. YES OR NO?
As I've grown older, I've started gravitating towards slightly different styles in home & fashion depending on where I am. In general, the city calls for a cleaner, shinier look, while a natural, casual approach seems a better fit for the country.
Of course, this is not a hard & fast rule. Because that would be boring. And I do realize you have to be careful, because if you go to far with the whole decorating-to-suit-your-locale idea, your home could start resembling a kitschy, themed amusement park. Ha!
That being said, I'm feeling so inspired by the organic, homey, undone aesthetic from the UK-based clothing & home shop, Toast. If you read my recent post about our decision to settle down in a small mountain town, then you'll know I've been really inspired by the surrounding countryside in the past couple of years. The style depicted in these images seems like a nice compliment to that, doesn't it?
I'm curious, what's your style? Is it influenced by where you live?

Love these images Eva! The couch covered in sheepskins is sooo lovely and cozy & speaks to me. My interior style has always been influenced by 30's to 40's children's books. Whenever I decorate I want people to feel like they are in a happy storybook. It would be so fun to tour people's homes and then write a review of the feeling one get's of their home, after the tour. I bet yours is so homey and cozy.
p.s. Ingrid is 1!!! Eva, she is SOOO adorable and beautiful! xoxo
p.s my sister sent me one of your "Your Sweet" cards the other day... I love it so much! :)
I LOVE this post. It's such a great question and something I think about often. My style is totally influenced by where I live and where my friends & family live. We live in a suburb right now, so I don't feel like I have a style that reflects the city or country, but the city definitely influences my choices! Thanks for sharing, Eva! xo
Roxy - What a great inspiration! Sounds so cheerful and cozy. I'd love to see your home. And thanks so much. :)
Colleen - Thanks for your comment, Colleen! I see what you mean about the suburbs, but there are definitely other things related to location besides the city and country that can influence, though. Region, country, state, climate, etc... I'm sure those influence you in some way, too! xo
