FINALLY

I finally got rid of the last lingering baby weight a couple of months ago. (It took me an entire year.) And I finally put away all my maternity clothes and men's shirts. What a relief.

Since Ingrid's birth, it's been easier to focus on dressing her, but I've hit a point where I'm ready to work on my own style again. To start, I went through my closet and donated or tossed quite a few things. Now I'm starting to slowly build it back up. I want to be more thoughtful with my purchases... instead of buying lots of cheap things, I'd like to collect a smaller amount of items that I really love, that reflect my personality, and that fit me well.

I've really been loving the look and versatility of booties lately, so I decided to do a little round-up of some I had bookmarked. These would all work nicely with a variety of outfits and could be dressed up or down. They have a heel to give my legs a little length, but a manageable one. (No crazy stilettos for the mother of a toddler, thank you.)

Do you like any of these?

1) Swathed Canvas Booties 2) Ollie Open Toe Booties 3) Betty Suede Wedge Booties 4) Short Excursion Booties 5) Jodhpur Classic Booties 6) Knotted Buckle Booties

Congratulations, Eva! As for the booties, I love 4 and 6!

I just saw a super, fashionable older woman (she looked so good! How does a woman in her 60s pull off a fur vest over a purple shirt? but she did!) wearing shoes that looked like a hybrid between 4 and 5. And that's my choice. I think it would suit you best, too. As for me I don't think I'd ever wear booties--I struggle with anything called a "bootie" (even for babies) and they wouldn't look good on me anyway (I'm not fashion adventurous). And way to go on the weight loss! It's so hard post-baby, but you made it, you can finally feel like you fit back in your body again.

Michelle & Jen -Thanks! And I'm glad you both mentioned #4, because I ended up finding a pair similar to that on sale at Nordtrsom Rack... they're black instead of gray, though. Anyways, I love them!

And Jen - It is funny to imagine you talking about a new pair of "booties". :) And yeah, it feels good to feel more like myself... although I was about 10 lbs over where I like to be when I got pregnant, so now I'm working on those. 7 more to go...
